Lyrics
I keep thinking each and every day
I reflect on my actions each day
Have I really made a difference? Have I made things change?
Questioning if I've made a meaningful impact or brought about change
In all these years of growing up and standing strong
Throughout the years of maturing and staying resilient
Has it made a single dent with all that is so wrong?
Wondering if my efforts have had any effect on the existing problems
But if I haven't done a thing for world affairs
Even if I haven't contributed significantly to global issues
At least I know I try and I'll show that I care
Emphasizing the importance of trying and demonstrating care
Cause it's me that has to make an effort
Recognizing the personal responsibility to initiate change
Or what can I expect to change?
Raising the question of what change can be expected without personal effort
That's where it starts, in myself
Highlighting the starting point for change within oneself
Not just shifting all the blame
Rejecting the practice of shifting blame and taking personal responsibility
And as I'm growing older I can see the changes
Observing personal growth and the accompanying changes
Yet history ain't history at all it seems
Criticizing the distortion of historical events
I try to keep my head held high, eyes open wide
Striving to maintain a positive attitude and awareness
And growing keeps me learning yeah it keeps me free
Acknowledging that continuous growth leads to learning and freedom
But if I haven't done a thing for world affairs
Reiterating the importance of attempting to contribute to global issues
At least I know I try and I'll show that I care
Stressing the significance of trying and expressing care
Cause it's me that has to make an effort
Affirming the individual's role in making an effort for change
Or what can I expect to change?
Posing the question of change without personal initiative
That's where it starts, in myself
Emphasizing the internal starting point for change
Not just shifting all the blame
Rejecting the act of blaming others and encouraging self-accountability
What have you got to think that time will stop for you?
Questioning the assumption that time will wait for an individual
