Don't Mean Anything
Unspoken Vows and Fading Echoes: Adam Cohen's Poetic ReflectionsLyrics
What she wants is for me to say
She desires me to affirm that I fulfilled all my promises.
That I kept every promise that I made
That I upheld every commitment I made.
But on her hand there's a ring
However, she wears a ring that lacks significance.
That don't mean anything
The ring holds no importance or value.
I would sit and write her songs
I invested time creating songs for her.
I vowed that in my heart she belonged
I swore she resided within my heart.
But all the words I used to sing
Yet the lyrics I composed don't hold meaning anymore.
They Don't mean Anything
Those words have lost their significance.
It's hard to feel when you don't
It's challenging to sense emotions when they're absent.
It's hard to say You will when you won't
Difficult to claim you'll do something when you won't.
And if you do
Even if you follow through, it remains meaningless.
It don't mean anything
Action without genuine feeling lacks importance.
I touch her skin
I physically engage with her.
I smell her hair
Using senses like smell to connect.
And it might appear that I still care
Seemingly showing care, yet it might be superficial.
I see her legs, they're opening
Observing her actions, possibly of intimacy.
It don't mean anything
However, these actions hold no genuine meaning.
It's hard to feel when you don't
It's challenging to experience emotions when they're absent.
It's hard to say you will when you won't
Difficult to promise something you won't fulfill.
and if you do
Even if the promise is kept, it lacks significance.
It don't mean anything
An action without genuine emotion remains meaningless.
On the day I said goodbye
The day of parting, the symbol of sadness cried.
My melancholy Butterfly just cried
Emphasizing the emotional pain through symbolism.
Tears that sting
Tears that cause pain.
It don't mean anything
Yet, this expression holds no significance.
It don't mean anything 3x
Reiterating that nothing carries meaning.
Anything
An emphasis on the lack of significance.
