Cold River, Wide River
Navigating Life's Chilling Currents: Alec James Payton's Emotional JourneyLyrics
The river’s cold and the river’s wide
The river is both cold and wide.
And we were not prepared
We were unprepared for a challenging situation.
You heard my calls from the other side
Your response to my calls came from the opposite side.
Hung in crystal air
Your response lingered in the clear, crisp air.
And though I know beyond this snow
Despite the current difficulties, there is hope for a better future (Spring).
There is a Spring
Assurance that beyond the current challenges, a positive change will come.
And though I know the winds will blow
Acknowledgment that challenges (winds) will persist beneath your protection.
Beneath your wing
Under your care, you will be carried away from challenges.
And carry you away
An unexpected snowfall caught everyone off guard.
The snow came late but the snow came hard
The entire town was unprepared for the late and intense snowfall.
And the whole town’s off-guard
April's significance reduced to a cliché image on greeting cards.
And April was just the image on
Despite knowing that the difficulties will ease, personal strength is elusive.
Generic greeting cards
Anticipation that the night (challenges) will eventually subside.
And though I know the night will slow
Struggling to find inner strength despite the knowledge that positivity will prevail.
I can’t find my strength
Despite the expectation of improvement, facing personal pain is difficult.
And though I know the Sun will show
Standing at a metaphorical riverbank, contemplating a significant decision.
I can’t face my pain
The burden is so heavy that attempting to overcome it seems certain to fail.
I’m standing at the banks
Acknowledgment of dependence on someone else for support.
Ready to jump I think
Considering a drastic step, but the burden is too much to bear alone.
But I carry so much weight
The emotional weight is so substantial that self-reliance seems impossible.
That I know for sure I’d sink
Confident that without external support, failure is inevitable.
Without you to carry me
Acknowledgment of the necessity for external support to navigate challenges.
