Well Aphrodite sat on her back porch waiting for the stars to come out

Aphrodite urges Coyote to come down from the hills.
You see I got me a Raven to sit on top of my fountain
Aphrodite mentions having a Raven on her fountain, anticipating rain to fill her riverbed.
And when the rain come down, oh, my riverbed fills

The deer and the skunk, the muskrat & lynx
Various animals gather for drinks at the river.

Aphrodite asks Coyote for his thoughts.
Well Coyote said, "I got your riverbed

Aphrodite can make a deal with Coyote.
Well Aphrodite's heard these things before

Because her Animals stood thirsty upon her river's mighty shores

So she whispered into Cupid's ear and said

So Eros sent a golden arrow flyin' at Coyote in the dark

As he was lickin' his lips at a lovely little Kitten in the park
Coyote is distracted by a kitten, leaving a mark when it escapes.
But the Kitten got away oh, and on Coyote left a mark
The kitten escapes, leaving a mark on Coyote.
And to this day when a Dog sees a Cat, well they always bark.

And as Coyote was hangin' his head

Aphrodite stepped in and stole back the riverbed
Aphrodite reclaims her riverbed from Coyote.
So back to the desert
Returning to the desert and hills after losing the riverbed.
Back to the hills
Heading back to the hills.
You can feed upon little birds, and mice and roadkill
Describing Coyote's diet of birds, mice, and roadkill.
And if you come near that river, Man'll have you shot
Warning that coming near the river may lead to being shot.
So if you wanna save your skin, Coyote,
Advising Coyote to stay away from the river to avoid harm.
I guess you'd better Not.
Suggesting Coyote not approach the river to save himself.

Coyote hides in the hills through the hot, dry day

And if he comes near a Kitten, well, he tends to rip it apart
