One Man Against the World: Embracing Change and Facing AdversityLyrics
Strange to see how times are changing
Observation of how circumstances are evolving
How being old is just the same as being young
Perception that age doesn't fundamentally alter experiences
Think it's time to rearrange things
Feeling the need to reorganize things
In an order we can finally understand
Desire for order and clarity in life
Truth is that I'm not the same me
Recognition of personal change over time
That I was back then, when all of this began
Acknowledgment of personal evolution since the beginning
One man against the world
Feeling of being alone in opposition to the world
Thrown up against the wall
Sense of being confronted with obstacles
Up against the ones who took it all
Conflict with those who have taken everything
Consider all the odds we're facing
Considering the challenges ahead
Then decide if we're prepared to take them on
Deciding whether to confront those challenges
Are you the one here who needs saving
Questioning if someone needs rescue
Or are you the one refusing to give up?
Contemplating resilience and refusal to give up
Honesty is not the same thing
Distinguishing honesty from complete self-disclosure
As confessing and embracing all your flaws
Understanding that embracing flaws differs from honesty
Us against the world
Feeling united against the world's challenges
Thrown up against the wall
Sense of being pushed against a wall by challenges
Up against the ones who did you wrong
Struggle against those who have wronged
Up against the ones who made you small
Struggle against those who belittled
Us against the ones who said you'd
Opposition to those who doubted success
Never hit your mark
The more I aim, the worse I miss it,
Struggling despite aiming for success
More I act the saint, the worse that I do wrong
Paradox of behaving morally yet making mistakes
Thought of buying a one-way ticket
Contemplation of leaving everything behind
On an airplane, and never coming home
Desire to escape from current life
At least then I could be a stranger
Wishing to be anonymous in a distant place
Somewhere far away, that no one else would know
Seeking anonymity away from familiar surroundings
Overhearing conversations
Realization that others are unaware of the truth
Makes it clear that they don't know what's going on
Noting the lack of understanding in conversations
Tuning through these empty stations
Feeling of desperation in information sources
Sound so desperate and devoid of any plan
Sensing a lack of direction or strategy
But maybe someday if we're patient
Hope that patience might lead to change
Then eventually the world will change for us
Belief that the world might eventually transform
