What will it matter then
Contemplating the significance of matters in a future scenario.
When the sky's not blue but blazing red
Imagining a transformed sky, possibly due to a catastrophic event.
The fact that I simply love you
Expressing love despite impending challenges or disasters.
When all our dreams lay deformed and dead
Acknowledging the demise of shared aspirations and hopes.
We'll be two radioactive dancers
Envisioning a future as radioactive individuals, possibly separated.
Spinning in different directions
Describing a disoriented, chaotic dance in different directions.
And my love for you will be reduced to powder
Anticipating the diminishing intensity of love, reduced to powder.
The screams will perform louder and louder
Expecting increasing intensity of screams in a grim scenario.
Your marble flesh will soon be raw and burning
Visualizing the deterioration of a loved one's physical state.
And kissing will reduce my lips to a pult
Imagining the adverse effects of physical intimacy, turning lips to a pulp.
Hideous creatures will return from the underground
Envisioning the emergence of horrifying beings from below the surface.
And the fact the I love you
Highlighting the tragic end of the declaration of love.
Will die
Emphasizing the mortality of love in the face of dire circumstances.
You don't have to sleep to see nightmares
Stating that nightmares can be experienced without sleeping.
Just hold me close
Suggesting closeness as a way to confront or escape from nightmares.
Then closer still
Encouraging even closer connection to resist the forces pulling apart.
And you'll feel the probabilities pulling us apart.
Describing the forces (probabilities) working against maintaining closeness.
