Father Time
Chasing Time's Secrets: Axel Mansoor's Poetic ReflectionsLyrics
I’m young but I feel old
I am young, but I feel like I have aged.
Soft skin is turning stone it’s tough
My soft skin is becoming hardened like stone, indicating toughness or resilience.
Knowing there’s so much further to go
Awareness of the vast distance still to be traveled in life.
Caught between these parallels I know I see
Feeling caught or stuck between contrasting situations or choices.
Both sides of every coin that I am to receive
Recognizing and understanding different aspects of one's experiences.
Well if I could find father time
Expressing a desire to find and interact with Father Time, a symbolic representation of time.
I would try to get him drunk on wine
Imagining getting Father Time intoxicated to slow down the passage of time.
And stumble around maybe slow things down
Suggesting a wish to pause and appreciate moments by slowing down time.
If I could find father time
Continuation of the desire to find Father Time for the purpose of altering the pace of time.
I would try to keep him off his flight
Imagining preventing Father Time from continuing his journey, again with the intention of slowing time.
Stuck on the ground maybe slow things down
Desiring to keep time stagnant to prolong and savor moments.
If I’d invested more
If more effort had been invested, there might be more achievements or recognition by now.
Maybe by now accolades would line every wall
Speculating on the potential for accolades and achievements lining the walls if more had been done.
And yet every word I’ve read
Acknowledging that external symbols of success, like trophies, may not necessarily bring meaningful connections.
Says trophies never make good friends
Emphasizing the idea that material achievements do not guarantee genuine friendships.
Caught between these parallels I know I see
Reiteration of feeling caught or torn between opposing forces or choices.
Both sides of every coin that I am to receive
Reaffirmation of the ability to see different sides or perspectives in various situations.
Well if I could find father time
Repeating the desire to find and interact with Father Time.
I would try to get him drunk on wine
Continuation of the metaphor, imagining getting Father Time drunk to alter the pace of time.
And stumble around maybe slow things down
Reiterating the wish to slow down time and appreciate moments.
If I could find father time
Expressing the desire to prevent Father Time from continuing, symbolically stopping time.
I would try to keep him off his flight
Continuation of the desire to keep Father Time grounded and time at a standstill.
Stuck on the ground maybe slow things down
Repeating the idea of wanting to slow down time and savor moments by keeping Father Time from flying.
