Modern Man
Modern Man's Dilemma: A Reflection on Ecological ConsequencesLyrics
I've got nothing to say,
I have no significant thoughts or opinions to express.
I've got nothing to do,
I lack purpose or meaningful activities.
All om my neurons are
All of my brain cells are working efficiently.
Functioning smoothly
My mental processes are functioning smoothly.
Yet still I'm a cyborg just like you,
Despite my apparent normalcy, I am as artificial and disconnected as you.
I am one big myoma that thinks,
I am a self-centered growth or tumor that believes the world revolves around me.
My planet supports only me,
I perceive the world as existing solely for my benefit.
I've got this one big problem: will I live forever?
My major concern is whether I will achieve immortality.
I've got just a short time you see,
My time on Earth is limited.
Modern man, evolutionary betrayer,
As a modern man, I have betrayed the natural course of evolution.
Modern man, ecosystem destroyer,
I am actively destroying the balance of the ecosystem.
Modern man, destroy yourself in shame,
I should be ashamed of causing my own demise.
Modern man, pathetic example of earth's organic heritage,
I am a pitiful representation of the Earth's organic heritage.
When I look back and think,
Reflecting on the past, contemplating my actions.
When I ponder and ask "why?"
Questioning and seeking reasons for my destructive behavior.
I see my ancestors spend with careless abandon,
My ancestors spent resources recklessly, assuming an endless supply.
Assuming eternal supply, modern man,
As a modern man, I am a mere example of wasteful carbon-based existence.
Just a sample of carbon-based wastage,
I am a tragic outcome of human existence, contributing to the degradation of the planet.
Just a fucking tragic epic of you and I
A blunt and explicit expression of the tragedy shared by both you and I.
