Strange Harmonies
Echoes of Liberation: A Journey Through Post-War ReflectionsLyrics
And in those weeks after the war
Reflecting on the time after a conflict or struggle.
We tried to walk a million miles
Attempted a significant journey to recover what was lost.
To find the things that we had lost
Searching for lost elements in life.
And let ourselves go for a while
Allowing oneself to be carefree for a period.
We needed time to make mistakes
Recognizing the importance of making mistakes and learning.
A chance to change or stay the same
Contemplating the choice between change and stability.
To break with what we’d done before
Breaking away from past actions and decisions.
And sleep to dream of golden days
Dreaming of better days during sleep.
I wanted all of you
Expressing a desire for a complete connection with someone.
You wanted all of me
Mutual desire for a complete connection.
And I was standing still
Being stagnant in a relationship.
Then I was falling free
Transitioning from a static state to a state of freedom.
We stayed awake for 7 days
Experiencing a prolonged period of wakefulness.
We wrote our names on paper bags
Symbolic act of marking oneself and the impermanence of life.
People and places fade away
Observing the transient nature of people and places.
And conversations start to drag
Conversations becoming tedious over time.
When we survive the fiery crash
Surviving a challenging situation and contemplating the deceased.
Will you say prayers for all the dead?
Requesting prayers for those who didn't survive.
When you put on your lion’s mask
Putting on a brave or deceptive front.
And shadows fall around our heads
Darkness surrounding thoughts and actions.
If I have all of you
Reiterating the desire for a complete connection.
And you have all of me
Mutual commitment to filling emotional gaps.
to fill the empty space
Addressing the emptiness with unique and unconventional solutions.
With strange harmonies
Using unusual harmonies to fill emotional voids.
And I’ll have all of you
Reiteration of the desire for a complete connection.
And you’ll have all of me
Mutual commitment to completeness.
Cause we were standing still
Reflecting on past stagnation and acknowledging freedom.
And now we’re falling free
Currently experiencing a state of freedom.
