I brought home my first computer, hooked it up to the black & white tv
I acquired my first computer and connected it to a black & white TV.
Tiny flat membrane keyboard, set it on a desk my grandpa built

The computer came with an instruction book; I read every page but needed more
Despite reading the computer's instruction book thoroughly, I sought additional knowledge.
So my mom found a red-covered book: 101 Timex/Sinclair 1000 Tips & Tricks

I typed in nearly every program, a virtual etch-a-sketch was my favourite

I worked on it for two days and never saved, because it couldn't save

When I finally had to turn the computer off it was lost forever
Unfortunately, when I turned off the computer, the unsaved work was lost forever.
I came down with a horrible fever during this time
During this period, I fell seriously ill with a fever.
So sick I couldn't go to school
The sickness prevented me from attending school.
But I got out of bed and sat at my desk
Despite being unwell, I got out of bed and continued programming for hours.
And programmed that machine for hours
I spent an extensive amount of time coding on the computer.
Mom brought me to the doctor to get me checked out
My mom took me to the doctor due to my illness.
She told him about the computer and how I wouldn't stop
She informed the doctor about my computer usage and expressed concern.
She wanted him to make me quit using that computer
She wanted the doctor to advise me to quit using the computer.
But he only laughed and said that wasn't the problem
The doctor dismissed the computer as the problem, laughing off the notion.
