I have bore witness to events that are not my business
I have observed events that are not directly related to my life.
While exercising persistence and unintentionally improving fitness
While persisting in my endeavors, I unintentionally improved my physical fitness.
For it is not my mission to arrive in this position
My purpose is not to attain this position; I am a humble musician, not seeking attention.
To talk as people listen for I am but a simple musician
I don't speak to be heard widely; I'm just a simple musician sharing my craft.
And I fear the future moving in
I am anxious about the future unfolding and its potential consequences.
While striving for perfection under constant dissection
Striving for perfection but constantly under scrutiny and analysis.
Others seeking motivation but end up with frustration
Others seek motivation but often end up frustrated.
Show me a saint who's not a sinner or justified faith in a beginner
Show me a saint who hasn't sinned or have faith in a beginner's justified beliefs.
An answer to all our problems from that new face whom wants to solve them
There's no clear solution to all our problems from a new face trying to solve them.
Still I fear the future moving in
Despite efforts, I still fear the uncertain outcomes of the approaching future.
For it doesn't matter which platform you support
No matter the political or ideological stance, it doesn't change the outcome.
Nor the reasons that you purport
Regardless of your reasons, each position or belief is a small part of a larger structure.
As each is but a stone in the wall
Every stance or belief is just a small part of a larger structure.
Just elected to fall
Those in power are just temporary; they will eventually fall.
So look upon those with power, once obtained becoming sour
Powerful individuals, once in control, often become bitter.
Perhaps a mission cast upon us, to not keep what they promise
There might be a mission for us not to trust those in power who fail to keep promises.
Or maybe the position overwhelming, unaware of what they're selling
Leaders may be overwhelmed or unaware of the consequences of their decisions.
And you can say what you will, still you're stuck with the bill
No matter what is said, the consequences or responsibility cannot be avoided.
And I fear the future moving in
Despite seeking unity and change, there is a fear of the uncertain future.
Finding solidarity demanding change, but none can be arranged
Efforts for solidarity and change may be fruitless within the existing system.
Still having to work within the system, even though you are against them
Even if against the system, one may still have to operate within it.
Trying to flee from oppression, but it's in every direction
Escaping oppression proves challenging as it exists in all directions.
And you may think you have some time still, but history works in cycles
Believing there's time to act, but historical patterns repeat.
And so I fear the future moving in
The fear of the future persists as time moves forward.
For it doesn't matter which platform you support
Reiterating that political affiliation doesn't change the inevitable outcome.
Nor the reasons that you purport
Regardless of the reasons, each position is a small part of a larger structure.
As each is but a stone in the wall
Every belief or stance is just a small part of a larger structure.
Just elected to fall
Those in power are destined to fall, a recurring theme.
