Rhododendron
Reflections of Nature's TeachingsLyrics
As I look out my window, all I can see
Contemplating the view outside the window
Is a bush of rhododendron flowers staring back at me
Noticing a cluster of rhododendron flowers
And a mama robin, she is always working
Observing a mother robin consistently working
Bringing worms and bugs to feed her young
Describing the robin bringing food for her offspring
While the snakes and house cats are lurking
Highlighting potential threats like snakes and house cats
All this time I've spent inside my head
Reflecting on time spent in introspection
Well, I've been hurting
Expressing emotional pain
Is the world still turning?
Questioning the state of the world
For this weight I bare leaves me so damn scared
Conveying a heavy burden and fear
I guess we've all been hurting like a little bird I'm learning
Relating personal suffering to that of a bird
Could I be a mother or a lover
Contemplating roles as a mother or lover
To something greater than my own instinct to suffer?
Questioning allegiance to personal suffering
And would a sheep run if she knew she was for the slaughter
Pondering whether awareness changes one's path
Or would she simply let her soft wool warm her daughter?
Considering a mother's sacrifice for her child
All this time I've spent inside my head
Reiterating time spent in internal contemplation
Well, I've been hurting
Expressing ongoing emotional pain
Is the world still turning?
Repeating the question about the world's state
For this weight I bare leaves me so damn scared
Re-emphasizing the heavy burden and fear
I guess we've all been hurting like a little bird I'm learning
Connecting personal suffering to that of a bird's learning
Now if a mother were to stop working
Stressing the importance of a mother's continuous efforts
Then her babes, they would die
Explaining the consequences if a mother stops working
And the lamb did cry when her mama's fate became certain
Depicting the emotional response of a lamb to its mother's fate
