Roots
Roots of Solitude: Billie Marten's Poetic JourneyLyrics
Breeze is always colder by the sea
The breeze feels colder near the sea.
But it's warm to me
Despite the chill, it feels comforting or pleasant to me.
Unsettled in my skin
I feel uneasy or uncomfortable within myself.
The air is clean, and I build a dream
The atmosphere is pure, and I'm constructing an aspiration or vision.
Haven't we all?
Reflecting on a shared experience or feeling with others.
Haven't we all?
-Never looking back or looking down
Choosing not to dwell on the past or look down on myself.
Alone forever
Feeling perpetually isolated or solitary.
Caught up in it all
Entangled or caught in the complexities of life.
I thought about it many times before
Considering something repeatedly in the past.
Haven't we all?
Reflecting on a common experience or thought.
Haven't we all?
-What am I?
Questioning personal identity or purpose.
What am I, alone?
Feeling alone or isolated in self-reflection.
Leave it all behind you, I'd love to
Desiring to leave everything behind.
Cause I've got tired eyes and nothing to sink into
Having tired eyes and no compelling interests.
Somewhere to belong, to
Seeking a place or community to belong to.
Heaven knows I could find my place to be
Expressing the longing to find one's rightful place.
River runs for miles
A river extends for a long distance.
Untied, unchanging in time
The river remains unrestricted and unchanged over time.
Deep in thought of nothing more
Lost in contemplation without a specific focus.
I'd be free as the roads we walk
Wishing for the freedom experienced while walking on open roads.
Wouldn't we all
Speculating about a shared desire or aspiration.
Wouldn't we all
-What am I?
Pondering personal identity or purpose once again.
What am I, alone?
Feeling alone or isolated in self-reflection, reiterating the sentiment.
Leave it all behind you, I'd love to
Yearning to leave everything behind.
Cause I've got tired eyes and nothing to sink into
Expressing weariness and a lack of substantial interests.
