Lyrics
One time in London I'd gone out for a walk,
Setting the scene in London, going for a walk.
Past a place called Hyde park where people talk
Passing by Hyde Park where people engage in discussions.
'Bout all kinds of different gods, they have their point of view
Discussions about various gods and their perspectives.
To anyone passing by, that's who they're talking to.
People talking to anyone passing by about their beliefs.
There was someone on a platform talking to the folks
A speaker discussing the impact of TV as a god-like entity.
About the T.V. god and all the pain that it invokes.
Highlighting the pain and negative influence caused by TV.
"It's too bright a light", he said, "For anybody's eyes,
TV's brightness as overwhelming for unaccustomed eyes.
If you've never seen one it's a blessing in disguise."
Not having seen TV is seen as a fortunate circumstance.
I moved in closer, got up on my toes,
Approaching the discussion, observing conflict.
Two men in front of me were coming to blows
Conflict arising between individuals in the audience.
The man was saying something 'bout children when they're young
Reference to children being affected negatively by TV.
Being sacrificed to it while lullabies are being sung.
Children's innocence sacrificed amid TV's influence.
"The news of the day is on all the time,
Constant news and gossip dominating thoughts.
All the latest gossip, all the latest rhyme,
Continuous influx of information and entertainment.
Your mind is your temple, keep it beautiful and free,
Urging to preserve one's mind against negative influences.
Don't let an egg get laid in it by something you can't see."
Warning against unseen influences affecting the mind.
"Pray for peace!". he said, you could feel it in the crowd.
A call for peace amidst the crowd's energy.
My thoughts began to wander. His voice was ringing loud,
Personal distraction from the speaker's message.
"It will destroy your family, your happy home is gone
TV's destructive impact on families and homes.
No one can protect you fro it once you turn it on."
Irreversible damage once TV is introduced.
"It will led you into some strange pursuits,
TV leading to forbidden or unhealthy pursuits.
Lead you to the land of forbidden fruits.
TV leading to temptation and morally questionable paths.
It will scramble up your head and drag your brain about,
Distorting thoughts and mental chaos caused by TV.
Sometimes you gotta do like Elvis did and shoot the damn thing out."
Suggesting extreme measures to get rid of TV's influence.
"It's all been designed", he said, "To make you lose your mind,
TV's purpose to cause mental instability and confusion.
And when you go back to find it, there's nothing there to find."
Difficulty in recovering one's mental clarity after TV.
"Everytime you look at it, your situation's worse,
Worsening situation with prolonged exposure to TV.
If you feel it grabbing out for you, send for the nurse."
Suggesting seeking medical help when TV affects you.
The crowd began to riot and they grabbed hold of the man,
Chaos erupting among the crowd due to the discussion.
There was pushing, there was shoving and everybody ran.
Physical confrontation leading to panic and dispersal.
The T.V. crew was there to film it, they jumped right over me,
Media capturing the chaos for broadcast.
Later on that evening, I watched it on T.V..
Reflecting on witnessing the chaos on TV later.
