Embracing Solitude: Unveiling the Depths of a Unique HeartLyrics
From childhood’s hour I have not been
Throughout my life, I have not experienced a typical childhood.
As others were—I have not seen
I haven't lived like others have.
As others saw—I could not bring
I couldn't perceive things as others did.
My passions from a common spring—
My emotions and desires don't originate from common sources.
From the same source I have not taken
I haven't drawn my sadness from the same origins as others.
My sorrow—I could not awaken
I couldn't bring my sorrow to life or fully feel it.
My heart to joy at the same tone—
I couldn't find joy in the same things as others.
And all I lov’d—I lov’d alone—
I loved everything in solitude.
Then—in my childhood—in the dawn
During my childhood, in the beginning
Of a most stormy life—was drawn
During a turbulent period in my life, I was introduced
From ev’ry depth of good and ill
From every aspect of good and bad
The mystery which binds me still—
The mystery that still binds me was revealed.
From the torrent, or the fountain—
Whether from a violent flow or a gentle spring,
From the red cliff of the mountain—
From the vivid edge of the mountain,
From the sun that ’round me roll’d
From the sun with its autumnal golden hue around me,
In its autumn tint of gold—
Including the lightning in the sky
From the lightning in the sky
As it swiftly passed me by,
As it pass’d me flying by—
From the thunder and the storm,
From the thunder, and the storm—
And the cloud that assumed the shape
And the cloud that took the form
When the rest of the sky was blue,
When the rest of Heaven was blue
It took the form of a demon in my perception.
Of a demon in my view—
That demon was in my view.
