'Cause my righteousness
Acknowledging personal righteousness as flawed and fictional.
Is filthy rags and fiction,
Describing personal righteousness as worthless ("filthy rags").
When I'm talking love and charity
Discrepancy between talking about love and charity and living differently.
And living something else,
Recognition of inconsistency in actions and words.
The idle talk I spread is really gossip,
Admitting that idle talk is actually gossip.
And this thing I call discernment,
Questioning the authenticity of self-proclaimed discernment.
Is just judgement in disguise,
Revealing that discernment might be disguised judgment.
And I keep myself so busy being busy,
Being excessively busy without true purpose or focus.
That I'm looking past the wounded people
Overlooking people in need due to busyness.
Right before my eyes
Failing to see wounded individuals in one's immediate surroundings.
I've been
Breaking the law of love,
Admitting to breaking the law of love, indicating a departure from love's principles.
Seeking the way of the one above,
Expressing a desire to follow the way of a higher power (Jesus).
Jesus come and make me whole,
Inviting Jesus to bring wholeness to the speaker's life.
Heal my heart and keep my soul
Seeking healing for the heart and preservation of the soul.
From breaking the law of love
Lord, even tho I know that I'm not worthy,
Acknowledging personal unworthiness despite belief in divine healing.
I believe you came to heal us
Believing that Jesus came to heal and make hearts his dwelling place.
And to make our hearts your home,
Highlighting the purpose of pouring the spirit into broken vessels.
To pour your spirit out in broken vessels,
Emphasizing the transformative power of love through individuals.
And love thru us in ways that
Describing a love that surpasses personal capabilities.
We could not love on our own
Keep us from
-Breaking the law of love,
Repeating the acknowledgment of breaking the law of love.
Seeking the way of the one above,
Reiterating the desire to follow a higher path.
Jesus come and make me whole,
Asking Jesus for completeness and healing.

Seeking the protection of the heart and soul from violating love's principles.

The more I let you fill me with your mercy,
Recognizing a positive correlation between receiving mercy and loving others.
The more I'll love my neighbor
Expressing a commitment to love one's neighbor more through divine influence.
And the less I'll find myself..
Expecting a decrease in self-centered actions.
