Writing a Better Story
Crafting Tomorrow's Narrative: Writing a Better Story by Carrie NewcomerLyrics
I'm writing a new ending
I am crafting a different conclusion
With a better story line
Improving the overall narrative
Turn the page and leave the blanks
Flipping the page and leaving spaces
With a plot that's less defined.
Creating a story with a less rigid plot
And though I won't get back
Although I can't reclaim
A day of stolen time
Moments lost in the past
I could go to bed at night
I can sleep peacefully
With a better story line
With an improved storyline
Leave that what can't be changed in the past
Accepting what cannot be changed in history
Let the old house burn down
Allowing the old to make way for the new
And the wind scatter the ash
Letting go of the past, symbolized by a burning house
Forgive myself for all the broken glass
Forgiving oneself for past mistakes
For what I didn't know how to say or ask
Regret for not expressing thoughts or asking questions
I'm writing a new ending
Continuing to shape a different conclusion
With a better story line
Enhancing the overall storyline
Turn the page and leave the blanks
Turning the page, leaving spaces for the unwritten
With a plot that's less defined.
Developing a less constrained plot
And though I won't get back
Despite not reclaiming
A day of stolen time
Moments lost in the past
I could go to bed at night
Finding solace in bedtime
With a better story line
With an improved storyline
Verse: Here's the scene when I lost my map
Describing a moment of losing direction
When the breadcrumbs blew away
When guidance disappeared
And there was no way back
Leaving no way to return
Just the compass of my heart to find the path
Relying on the heart's compass to find the way
Seen only dark, flash to lighting flash
Facing darkness, with occasional flashes of insight
I'm writing a new ending
Continuing to shape a different conclusion
With a better story line
Enhancing the overall storyline
Turn the page and leave the blanks
Turning the page, leaving spaces for the unwritten
With a plot that's less defined.
Developing a less constrained plot
And though I won't get back
Despite not reclaiming
A day of stolen time
Moments lost in the past
I could go to bed at night
Finding solace in bedtime
With a better story line
With an improved storyline
Bridge There are stories shaped like stones
Introducing stories with enduring qualities
The ones our hearts have always know
Stories familiar to the heart
The ones we finally call our own
Stories becoming a part of one's identity
Down where the spirit meets the bone
Where the spiritual and physical aspects converge
I'm ending where another story starts
Concluding one story while another begins
At the edges I can grow, even when their razor sharp.
Growing at the boundaries, even when they are sharp
I'm grateful for the words that I bookmarked,
Appreciating previously saved words
Before I really knew, I'd need them for this part
Anticipating the need for those words
I'm writing a new ending
Continuing to shape a different conclusion
With a better story line
Enhancing the overall storyline
Turn the page and leave the blanks
Turning the page, leaving spaces for the unwritten
With a plot that's less defined.
Developing a less constrained plot
And though I won't get back
Despite not reclaiming
A day of stolen time
Moments lost in the past
I could go to bed at night
Finding solace in bedtime
With a better story line
With an improved storyline
