He told me we were standing

Understanding the imminent risk, prepared or not.

Within a minute, ready or not


Well, I'm not afraid of dying

Determined to embrace and live life to the fullest.

I looked over the Pacific

Perceiving the waves in correlation with her thoughts.

And I saw the waves come rolling

A reflection on decades lived without true fulfillment.

Four decades I was breathing

Without filling up my lungs

I've never felt so alone, or so safe

Simultaneously feeling alone yet secure, akin to California.
