I flew out to Palo Alto
Traveled to Palo Alto from Nashville in mid-July.

And waking up in my own bed
Enjoying the comfort of her own bed and morning routine.
But I'd been home for a while
Feeling disconnected and mentally lost despite being home.
I was getting lost inside my head
Struggling with internal thoughts and emotions.
I drove up to Monte Bello
Visited Monte Bello for a solo climb, seeking solitude.
For a solitary climb
Encountered a man on the trail, altering her plans.
But I met a man who knew the trails
Shared part of the journey with a newfound companion.
We walked the last few miles
Learned about standing on the San Andreas Fault.
He told me we were standing
A realization of the geographical significance of their location.

Aware of the potential danger if the fault were to open.
And if it opened we'd both be goners
Understanding the imminent risk, prepared or not.
Within a minute, ready or not
Well, I'm not afraid of dying
Expressing a lack of fear for death.
But I'm dead set on being alive
Determined to embrace and live life to the fullest.

Desiring something powerful to make her feel alive.

I looked over the Pacific
Observing the Pacific from Mussel Rock's height.
From the height of Mussel Rock
Perceiving the waves in correlation with her thoughts.
And I saw the waves come rolling
A reflection on decades lived without true fulfillment.
With the current of my thoughts
Heading towards the edge, possibly a metaphor for risk-taking.
Four decades I was breathing
Without filling up my lungs
-Now I'm headed for the edge
-I'm running right into the sun
-I need California

There's a fault line in my soul

There was a day three years ago
Recalling a significant moment when stability crumbled.
When the earth beneath my feet just fell away
Being overwhelmed by the vastness and uncertainty of life.
I was swallowed by the sea
Experiencing a profound and isolating event.
I heard a song rise from the deep
Finding solace in a song emerging from the depths.
I've never felt so alone, or so safe
Simultaneously feeling alone yet secure, akin to California.
Just like California
Reiterating the connection to California as a symbol.

I'm not afraid of dying
Reiterating a lack of fear for death.
But I'm dead set on being alive
Commitment to actively pursue and cherish life.
Give me something to take my breath away
Seeking something awe-inspiring and breath-taking.
