Naked, come to Thee for dress;
Seeking spiritual covering or righteousness provided by the divine.
Helpless, look to Thee for grace;
Asking for divine grace due to personal inadequacy.
Foul, I to the fountain fly;
Seeking purification and cleansing from personal impurity.
Wash me, Savior, or I die.
Requesting salvation from the Savior or facing spiritual death.
While I draw this fleeting breath,
Reflecting on the transitory nature of life and the inevitability of mortality.
When my eyes shall close in death,
Contemplating the moment of passing from this life to the next.
When I rise to worlds unknown,
Anticipating the afterlife and encountering the divine presence.
And behold Thee on Thy throne,
Envisioning the divine in their exalted state.
