Lyrics
Seeded by chance on a fertile ground
Life began randomly in a fertile environment.
We were born too soon and grew up too fast
We were born at an inconvenient time and grew up quickly.
And the garden was lush when we came to light
The world was vibrant when we emerged.
Nettles in the grass, tares among the wheat,
There were challenges and difficulties among the good things.
We were tough and fierce and we loved the rain as much as the drought
We were resilient and enjoyed both rainy and dry times.
The other monsters and me(X2)
We, the monsters, and others were cute and light-hearted.
Looking so cute and so twee and as light as light could be
We appeared harmless and innocent.
The other monsters and me(X2)
We, the monsters, had no clue about the future.
We hadn't any idea of what the future would be
Uncertainty about what lies ahead.
And we loved to stare at the tortured skies
We enjoyed contemplating the troubled skies.
Our hearts were hard and so tough and proud enough to lie
We had tough hearts, proud enough to deceive.
We had no remorse and we had no hope
No remorse, no hope, and reluctance to make friends.
And we seldom made friends, often shunned the few ones we had
We rarely formed connections and often avoided the few friends we had.
Then we died one by one without any regret
We died one by one without regret.
Everything was said and done when we saw our sun set
Acceptance of the inevitable end.
Changing unfair unstable often cruel and wrongheaded
Life is constantly changing and often unfair and cruel.
Passing from A to be morphing from this to that
Transformation and evolution from one state to another.
Our "this" had no face, our "that" had no name
Undefined identity and nameless transformations.
The other monsters and me(X2)
We, the monsters, were inconsistent and light-hearted.
Kings of inconsistency and as light as light could be
Kings of inconsistency, appearing harmless.
The other monsters and me(X2)
Uncertainty about the future continued.
We hadn't any idea of what the future would be
We, the monsters, remained oblivious to the future.
Of wourse we these days wouldn't last we had to live fast
We knew our days wouldn't last, so we lived fast.
And we often heard our elders talk about a forthcoming heaven on earth
Elders talked about an idealized future, which we despised.
And we hated their life in a fool's paradise
We rejected the notion of a perfect life.
Then we died one by one without any regret
We died without regret, understanding the consequences.
And we knew what it meant but would never repent
We comprehended the meaning of our actions but refused to repent.
The other monsters and me(X8)
We, the monsters, in repetition, emphasizing the collective identity.
