And you would boast that you knew
Highlighting the person's knowledge and skill in a specific area.
All the pressure points inside
Emphasizing the depth of understanding about inner struggles.
And you could just as easily kill me
Suggesting a potential danger or harm that the person is capable of.
Beneath the desire that I hide
Indicating a conflict between desire and hidden emotions.
But as your patient I knew
Reflecting on a past role as the person's patient.
That your healing powers had grown
Acknowledging the growth of the person's healing abilities.
From a sore that's far far deeper
Exploring the origin of the person's healing powers from deep-rooted pain.
Than this heart where the pain was born
Connecting the emotional pain to a source deeper than the heart.
With my head again clear
Describing a moment of mental clarity.
I think of words to send to you
Contemplating the words to reach out to the person.
To coax you back to my side
Expressing a desire to reunite without explicitly stating love.
But always leave out "I love you"
Choosing not to express love, possibly due to hesitation or fear.
And then through my front door
Introducing a new element, a picture, possibly representing a distant place or memory.
A picture of a faraway land
Describing the content of the picture as a faraway land.
And to with love along the back
Noting a message of love on the back of the picture.
And once again I reach for my pen
Returning to the act of reaching out, possibly through writing.
