When you start your journey, you go and meet your driver
Starting a journey involves meeting the driver.
You shake his hand, and hope he's feeling well
Greeting the driver and wishing for their well-being.
The things to come may be somewhat unfamiliar
The future may hold unfamiliar experiences.
Like eating herring where the sun does not go down
Unusual situations, like eating herring where the sun doesn't set.
Our driver calculates what time we'll hit town
The driver plans and calculates the arrival time.
And every time a border comes
Encountering borders during the journey.
We go inside and meet with someone
Entering and meeting someone at each border.
Perhaps a form will need to be filled in
Possibility of filling out forms at borders.
Then we can go and restart up the engines
After border formalities, restarting the journey.
Plumbing often varies in the various different countries
Noticing differences in plumbing across countries.
I like to crouch down and turn on those bidets
Enjoying bidets and personal habits.
I'll have a cocktail, pick at my fingernails
Relaxing with a cocktail and attending to personal grooming.
And then I'll squat down for a wash to end the day
Cleansing at the end of the day with a wash.
