Weight of the End
Embracing Silence: Contemplation on Life's BurdensLyrics
I feel the silence come
I sense the arrival of silence
In rooms I now detest
In spaces that I now despise
The chill of the touch
The cold sensation of contact
In infinite night
In the vast expanse of night
I thought I had it
I believed I understood
One life
There is only one life
One fear
One prevailing fear
Too much to handle/for one to handle
Too overwhelming for an individual to endure
Too much to take
Too burdensome to endure
I held it as my own
I considered it my possession
And took for granted
And took it for granted
What I "knew"
Assumed knowledge as a certainty
Come inside
Come into the inner self
To what the darkness pushed away
To what the darkness repelled
Set out to find me
Embarked on a journey to locate me
The cold of the thought
The coldness associated with contemplation
In infinite touch
In the boundless sense of touch
The switch gets thrown
The transition occurs abruptly
What are we missing here
Questioning what is absent or overlooked
What have we been told
What information have we received
We must be the shield
We must act as a protector
And not the sword
And not as an aggressor
