Well ouch! Last night I was bitten by the bug of success
Last night, I experienced the downside of success.
They said your record's doing great, maybe it can even do better yet
People suggested that the record is doing well, and there's potential for even greater success.
So we made a video but I must admit it wasn't me
We created a music video, but I confess it didn't truly represent me.
Smiles and lies from the suits and ties that light the big blue screen
Encountered insincere smiles and lies from corporate figures on the big screen.
Well I must admit for just one day
Admits to letting distractions interfere for a day.
I let all that bullshit get in the way
Allowed external influences and negativity to distract from the music.
But I won't do it again
Expresses determination not to let it happen again.
I just want to play true music!
Desires to focus on creating authentic, true music.
Well the reviews have been great, and I thank all the scribes so sincerely

And college radio I support with all my might
Supports college radio, disregards mainstream opinions.
Don't tell me what they say in spin cause size don't make it right

I let all the bullshit get in the way
Allowed external influences to obstruct the music temporarily.
But it won't happen again

Well some sell millions, some sell nothing at all
Reflects on the varied commercial success of different artists.
And I've done well, had success and stayed true through it all
Proudly states having success while staying true to oneself.
But I never did want to own my own limousine
Never desired materialistic symbols of success like a limousine.
If music had a color, I know it wouldn't be green
If music had a "color" (monetary value), it wouldn't be about financial gain.
