I have already come;

The Lord has promised good to me,
Affirming God's promises and finding hope in His word.
His Word my hope secures;
Depicting God as a protective force and a source of sustenance throughout life.
He will my Shield and Portion be,
Emphasizing God's role as a Shield and Provider for the entirety of life.
As long as life endures.
Expressing confidence in God's continuous support and provision.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
Contemplating the inevitable decline of physical and mortal aspects of life.
And mortal life shall cease,
Anticipating a future existence beyond mortal life, characterized by joy and peace.
I shall possess, within the veil,
Describing the possession of a life beyond the veil (metaphor for the afterlife).
A life of joy and peace.
Emphasizing the qualities of the promised afterlife, including joy and peace.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
Contemplating the impermanence of the earthly realm, likening it to melting snow.
The sun forbear to shine;
Reflecting on the potential cessation of familiar elements like the sun.
But God, Who called me here below,
Affirming the eternal connection with God, who called the individual to the earthly life.
Shall be forever mine.
Asserting the enduring nature of the divine relationship.
When we've been there ten thousand years,
Contemplating an eternal future, symbolized by ten thousand years of praising God.
Bright shining as the sun,
Describing a future state of brightness and radiance, akin to the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Emphasizing the unending nature of praising God in the afterlife.
Than when we'd first begun.
Stressing the perpetual nature of worship, akin to the beginning of the spiritual journey.
