I was twenty six years old and I lost my way with God
I was 26 years old and I lost my connection with God.
Music was my life and my wife decided to go
Music was a significant part of my life, and my wife chose to leave me.
Along with her she took my son my hopes my dreams and my cares
When she left, she took our son, my aspirations, dreams, and concerns.
And the only way to stop the pain was to die
I felt immense emotional pain and contemplated ending my life.
So I took a lot of pills and I drank up all the booze I had
I consumed a large quantity of pills and alcohol, numbing myself and sinking into self-pity.
A walking talking zombie feeling sorry for myself
I felt disconnected from life, like a zombie.
I fell into a coma for nine and a half days straight
I fell into a coma for around nine and a half days.
And when I opened my eyes there was Jesus on the wait
Upon awakening, I saw Jesus waiting for me.
I woke up in a hospital and I could not even comb my hair
I was hospitalized, unable to perform basic tasks like grooming.
For three long months my ability to function was not there
For three months, I struggled with my ability to function normally.
Sitting up in bed was as close as close as I could bare
Sitting up in bed was a significant challenge for me.
And I cried out Lord help me Jesus and He was there
In desperation, I cried out to Jesus for help, and He responded.
And He has been there ever since and he is here today
Jesus has been present in my life ever since that moment and remains with me today.
He is always right there when I need Him each and every day
He is always available whenever I need Him.
Lord help me not to complain or grumble along the way
I pray for strength not to complain or grumble on my journey.
