In hopes that she might feel the feeling that I feel
In the hope that she could understand my emotions, I sent her a red rose.
I sent a red, red rose to my woman
I sent a red rose as a symbol of affection to my significant other.
In the first breath of spring, she gave her hand to me
During the beginning of spring, she agreed to be with me and gave me her hand.
And we pledged our vows to live as woman and man
We made a commitment to live together as a married couple.
The second rose I sent her my woman sat down and cried
Upon receiving the second rose, my partner cried, expressing dissatisfaction with our life together.
I know our life left much to be desired

A brighter world I thought was sure to come
Initially hopeful for a brighter future after the birth, the pain now overshadows that optimism.
But the pain now dims the light and I just can't bear the strife
The pain dims the joy, and the strife becomes unbearable.
For to give me a son she also gave her life
She sacrificed her life to give birth to our son.
So, the fourth red rose I lay beside my woman
Placing the fourth red rose beside her, symbolizing my eternal love for her.
We promise her my everlasting love
We pledge everlasting love to her, even in her absence.
In hopes that someday we may meet somewhere up above
Hoping that in the afterlife, we may reunite and find happiness together.
