It's big ol' broken pieces going into the abyss
Describing a fragmented heart falling into a vast emptiness.
So a waterfall of mighty pain erupts from the core’s surface
Portraying intense pain emanating from the core of the heart like a waterfall.
Draining down my happiness, that was it's only purpose
Acknowledging the draining of happiness as the heart's sole purpose.
So the peak of sadness stares at me, with it's broken gaze within
Confronting profound sadness represented by a broken gaze.
I said walking without a heart is like living without a limb
Highlighting the importance of a heart, drawing a parallel to living without it.
Because I’m an automatic, animatronic, fake my feelings friend
Describing a persona as automatic, animatronic, and emotionally distant.
Saturated, infatuated, pushed to a dead end
Expressing overwhelming feelings and being pushed to a dead end.
Because the reader of the words will never understand
Frustration that readers may not fully grasp the poet's emotions.
How the poet must feel when his mind is so bland
Reflecting on the challenge of expressing feelings when the mind feels dull.
So I make the paper talk for me
Using writing as a medium to communicate when words fail.
And I try to make it clear for you to see
Expressing a desire for clarity in communication through writing.
Please open me up, and let me scream
Pleading to be heard and understood, symbolized by screaming on paper.
Because I’m more than a laugh, and I'm more than a cry
Conveying complexity beyond laughter and tears, with a lingering desire for death.
All the stuff that I have, and yet for some reason I still just want to die
Expressing a sense of unfulfillment despite possessing material things.
I finally tell them and they all just say same
Revealing that others respond indifferently to the poet's confession.
Y'know, emotions are a game
Commenting on the perceived trivialization of emotions as a game.
I’m a player and I’m sick of it
Expressing weariness of playing the emotional game and a desire to stop.
I want to put my controller down because I'm filled with so much bewilderment
Desire for a break from emotional turmoil, using the metaphor of putting down a controller.
And I read these shattered notes from a past long gone
Reading past notes and experiencing the pain associated with them.
And I cry out my empty tears
Crying empty tears to a familiar, worn-out song.
To the same worn out song
Expressing the repetitive nature of emotional pain.
Because I tell you I’m on display on a stage made for stars
Feeling on display in a situation meant for others, expressing discomfort.
I don’t belong here, I mean, trust me, I've tried my best, but it's so damn hard
Conveying a sense of not fitting in despite earnest efforts.
So look at me and see the real me
Yearning for genuine understanding and acceptance.
See the kid with dreams, a house with seams breaking through it
Describing personal dreams and aspirations in contrast to external judgments.
A pit of loneliness
Acknowledging a profound sense of loneliness.
Admit to it, admit to your flaws
Encouraging self-awareness by admitting to personal flaws.
The cause of your problems, it's you, the things you do
Attributing problems to oneself and one's actions.
That's your cue, you coward to leave
Encouraging the act of leaving and facing reality.
And make believe to a fairy land far away
Referencing escape to a fantasy world to avoid facing challenges.
Where you can’t stay, because you don’t belong in this place
Emphasizing the feeling of not belonging to the current situation.
So wipe the smile off your face
Challenging a facade and revealing true emotions.
Oh, here he comes, he’s above all of us
Observing the elevation of someone, potentially the poet, above others.
So put him to the front of the bus, the woman have lust
Describing the admiration or desire from others, possibly driven by lust.
He's the best, put him on an isolating pedestal
Highlighting the isolating effect of praise and pedestal placement.
Everyone drools, but remember the rules
Warning about the consequences of getting too close to the admired person.
If you’re close to him, be sure to push him away
Encouraging distancing from the admired person to claim familiarity before stardom.
Because then, maybe, just maybe, you can claim to know him before stardom some day
Expressing a desire for recognition before the individual achieves stardom.
