Lyrics
There are some things I can't see
Feeling unaware or uncertain about certain aspects of life.
All in my head, I can't see
Mental struggle where clarity is elusive.
Too close to call, I can't breathe
Being in a situation too close to make objective decisions.
My own reflection of me
Seeing oneself in a reflective manner, perhaps self-critical.
My expectations of me
Expectations placed on oneself by internal standards.
Held against what I believe
Being judged against personal beliefs.
I am my worst enemy
Acknowledging self-sabotaging tendencies.
I am the Jesus they see
Comparing oneself to an ideal or revered figure.
I am the tears they don't see
Hidden emotional struggles not visible to others.
I am the weakness in me
Acknowledging personal vulnerabilities.
I am strength they don't see
Strength within oneself not recognized by others.
The contradiction in me
Internal conflicts or paradoxes within the individual.
And I get caught up in the middle
Feeling entangled or conflicted in the midst of life.
So caught up in the middle
Repetition of the struggle in the middle of life's challenges.
Of life
Highlighting the central point of life's challenges.
So caught up in the middle
Reiterating the feeling of being stuck in life's middle.
But I'm taking steps just a little
Despite challenges, making small progress or changes.
I try to run, I can't hide
Attempts to escape, but fear prevents facing challenges.
I am so scared of the fight
Fearful of engaging in a struggle or conflict.
I try to hold what's inside
Trying to contain internal emotions or struggles.
All of these pieces of me
Multiple facets of the individual's identity.
Must be worth more than what I see
Self-worth is greater than the perceived value.
Rise up my soul and believe
Encouraging oneself to rise above challenges and believe.
'Cause I get caught up in the middle
Reiteration of being entangled in life's complexities.
So caught up in the middle
Continued struggle in the midst of life's challenges.
Of life
Emphasizing the central point of life's challenges.
So caught up in the middle
Reaffirmation of feeling stuck in life's middle.
But I'm taking steps just a little
Despite challenges, making incremental progress.
And if I don't contend for myself
The importance of advocating for oneself.
Then what will become of me
The consequences of not standing up for oneself.
If I don't defend myself
The importance of self-defense for personal freedom.
Will I have a chance to be free
Questioning the possibility of freedom without self-defense.
If I don't contend for myself
Reiteration of the importance of self-advocacy.
Then what will become of me
The consequences of neglecting self-advocacy.
I am so scared for myself
Expressing fear for personal well-being.
But I have a chance to be free
Despite fear, recognizing the opportunity for freedom.
And it feels like I get
Recurring feeling of being caught in life's challenges.
Caught up in the middle
Reiteration of feeling stuck in life's complexities.
I'm so caught up in the middle
Continued struggle within the individual's own life.
Of my own life
Emphasizing the central point of personal challenges.
So caught up in the middle
Reaffirmation of being entangled in life's middle.
But I'm taking steps just a little
Despite challenges, making incremental progress.
