Summer has ended.
Here comes Fall
Fall has arrived.
Well I have to say that didn't feel like a summer at all
The recently concluded summer didn't feel like a typical one.
It's not for lack of trying
Despite efforts, something seems amiss.
Or the warmth of a little sunshine
Efforts to bring warmth and positivity through sunshine.
No it's 'cuz it feels like the whole world
A sense that the world is in disarray.
Has lost its goddamned mind
An observation that the world is chaotic and irrational.
There's pumpkins in the patch
Pumpkins in the patch symbolize the Fall season.
And all the faces wear a mask
People wearing masks, possibly indicating deception or hiding true feelings.
Not just the kiddies this year
The use of masks extends beyond children, suggesting widespread concealment.
Oh and there's plenty of fear
A mention of prevalent fear in the atmosphere.
And we could talk about the change in the weather
Considering the change in weather metaphorically.
But what about how we can all change for the better
Advocating for personal and collective improvement.
And all this shit about wolves and sheep
Addressing societal divisions with the metaphor of wolves and sheep.
And people being woke and people staying asleep
Reference to societal awareness (being woke) and ignorance (staying asleep).
While they bow to the almighty screen
Critique of excessive reliance on electronic devices.
All hail the anxiety machine
The negative impact of technology on mental health (anxiety machine).
So let the cool, crisp Autumn air blow through your hair
Encouraging embracing the refreshing Fall air.
And remind you that the ghosts and the demons were always there
Acknowledging the presence of challenges and hardships.
And when the family gathers round
Highlighting the importance of unity during family gatherings.
May we lay our weapons down
A call to lay down metaphorical weapons and foster understanding.
And break bread together on common ground
Encouraging unity and shared experiences despite differences.
Remember remember the third of November
A reference to a significant date, possibly hinting at political turmoil.
The day that our great nation lost the plot
Reflecting on a moment when the nation seemed to lose its direction.
I see no reason this chaotic season
Expressing doubt about the chaotic season being forgotten.
