Lyrics

I sail alone

I prefer solitude and navigate without companionship.

In a homemade boat

I use a boat I created myself.

Repairs and jokes and stares

Experiencing repairs, humor, and curious gazes wherever I go.

Everywhere I go

Encountering attention and observation in various places.

And then one night

One particular night...

Out about ten miles

Finding myself approximately ten miles from shore.

The sea glowed far below

The ocean illuminated far beneath me.

On the starboard side

Specifically on the right side of the boat.

There underneath the waves

Discovering, beneath the water's surface...

A drowned city was never saved

A submerged city beyond salvation.

In a deep sea paradise

In a profound underwater haven.

They know better than to rise

These submerged beings wisely refrain from resurfacing.

And if I had my way

If I could choose...

I'd trade my own today

I would exchange my current existence.

For the underwater life

For a life beneath the waves.

The sailors laugh

Other sailors mock my unnamed vessel.

At my unnamed craft

They disregard it and focus on earning money...

Ignore it and collect my coins

By transporting discarded items.

For hauling trash

Engaging in this work without concern for my boat's status.

And every night

Every evening...

Where the sea goes deep

Where the sea becomes profoundly deep.

I drop sail and watch until

I lower the sail and observe...

I drift off to sleep

Until I eventually fall asleep.

There underneath the waves

Once again beneath the waves...

A drowned city was never saved

A submerged city remains unredeemed.

In a deep sea paradise

In a profound underwater haven.

They know better than to rise

These submerged beings wisely refrain from resurfacing.

And if I had my choice

If I had the option...

I'd trade my own of course

I would willingly exchange my current life.

For the underwater life

For a submerged existence.
