Pretty Cool Primates
Embracing Life's Rhythm: Pretty Cool Primates by Geb ZurburgLyrics
It's what I wasn't taught
Reflecting on what was not taught
That I learned
Learning from personal experiences
To form these finger knots that some call chords
Developing finger skills for playing chords
Now just some words I thought I'll sprinkle on
Turning thoughts into words (lyrics)
Let's call them lyrics now
Referring to thoughts as lyrics
Let them percolate
Allowing ideas to develop and mature
Let them marinate
Letting thoughts soak in, letting ideas develop
It's what I do for fun
Creating music for enjoyment
But it's more than that
Music is more than just a hobby
I can't contain the thought
Unable to suppress certain thoughts
Now obsess over that
Becoming fixated on certain ideas
When the deluge comes I
Coping with overwhelming situations
I wash in that
Cleansing and rejuvenating in difficult times
And let the current take
Allowing life's flow to guide
Me under wide awake
Remaining aware and conscious
What I want is what I am
Desiring to be true to oneself
What I'm not I understand
Understanding one's limitations
It just took time
Personal growth takes time
And more to come
Expecting more growth in the future
We're pretty cool primates
Embracing the uniqueness of humans
I teach history and it's great
Enjoying teaching history
I coach my kids so much my friggin back aches
Expressing physical strain from coaching
But when it's one v one against myself I play
Engaging in self-competition
And write these songs all day
Dedicating time to songwriting
I write these songs all day
Expressing dedication to songwriting
What I want is what I am
Desiring authenticity
What I'm not I understand
Accepting personal limitations
It just took time
Acknowledging personal growth
And more to come
Anticipating further development
We're pretty cool primates
Embracing human uniqueness
We're pretty cool primates
Reaffirming human uniqueness
And I wish it never ends
Expressing a desire for continuity
My wife and kids and all of my friends
Valuing relationships with family and friends
I think the hardest thing to think about
Contemplating the difficulty of loss
Is when it's all gone
Fearing the end of something significant
Never another dawn
Reflecting on the finality of certain situations
What I want is what I am
Desiring authenticity
What I'm not I understand
Accepting personal limitations
It just took time
Acknowledging personal growth
And more to come
Anticipating further development
We're pretty cool primates
Embracing human uniqueness
We're pretty cool primates
Reaffirming human uniqueness
We're pretty cool primates
Embracing human uniqueness
Pretty cool primates
Reiterating the uniqueness of humans
