Lyrics

Every year when summer comes round, off to the sea I go.

Every summer, I head to the seaside.

I don't care if I do spend a pound, I'm rather rash I know.

Regardless of spending money, I'm impulsive.

See me dressed like all the sports, in my blazer and a pair of shorts.

Dressed casually in a blazer and shorts.

With my little stick of Blackpool Rock, along the promenade I stroll.

Carrying my stick of Blackpool Rock, I walk along the promenade.

It may be sticky but I never complain, it's nice to have a nibble at it now and again

Although sticky, I enjoy nibbling on it occasionally.

Every day wherever I stray the kids all round me flock.

Children gather around me every day wherever I go.

One afternoon the band conductor up on his stand

A band conductor lost his baton.

Somehow lost his baton - it flew out of his hand

The baton flew out of his hand.

So I jumped in his place and then conducted the band

I stepped in and conducted the band.

With my little stick of Blackpool Rock

Still carrying my Blackpool Rock stick.

With my little stick of Blackpool Rock, along the promenade I stroll,

Continuing my stroll with the stick of Blackpool Rock.

In my pocket it got stuck I could tell

The stick got stuck in my pocket.

‘Cos when I pulled it out I pulled my shirt off as well

When pulling it out, my shirt came off too.

Every day wherever I stray the kids all round me flock.

Kids gather around me wherever I go.

A girl while bathing clung to me, my wits had to use

A girl in distress clung to me while bathing.

She cried, "I'm drowning, and to save me, you won't refuse"

She claimed she was drowning and needed help.

I said, "Well if you're drowning then I don't want to lose

I joked about not wanting to lose my stick while saving her.

My little stick of Blackpool Rock."

Emphasizing the stick even in a serious moment.

With my little stick of Blackpool Rock, along the promenade I stroll

Continuing the stroll with the stick along the promenade.

In the ballroom I went dancing each night

I danced in the ballroom frequently.

No wonder every girl that danced with me, stuck to me tight

Girls who danced with me stuck close.

Every day wherever I stray the kids all round me flock.

Kids kept gathering around me.

A fellow took my photograph it cost one and three.

Someone took my photo for a fee.

I said when it was done, "Is that supposed to be me?"

I questioned the likeness in the photo to me.

"You've properly mucked it up the only thing I can see is

Expressing disappointment in the poorly captured image.

My little stick of Blackpool Rock."

Only seeing the stick in the photo.
