I See You
Embracing Nature's Echoes: Grayson Capps' Poetic ReflectionsLyrics
The sun slithered down behind a sycamore tree,
The sun is setting behind a sycamore tree.
The wind rolled in to cool me by degrees,
The wind is blowing in, gradually cooling the speaker.
It's been too hot mama, it's been too warm,
Expressing discomfort from the heat and warmth.
It'll be alright when the summer's gone
Optimistic anticipation that things will be better when summer ends.
Fish ain't been biting, but my hook is wet,
Despite unsuccessful fishing, the speaker is prepared with a wet hook.
I ain't seen no rain since the day I left,
No rain has been seen since the speaker left.
Take a drink of water when your throat is dry,
Encouraging to hydrate when thirsty.
I'm gonna sit on the dam all through the night
Planning to spend the night sitting on a dam.
Hear the bullfrogs croaking all around the pond,
Hearing bullfrogs around, reminiscent of a concert in New Orleans.
Sounds just like a concert down in Nouvelle Orleans,
Comparing the sounds to a musical experience.
Streams through the forest just like the blood in my arms,
Streams in the forest are likened to the blood in the speaker's arms.
I see you in everything
The speaker perceives the presence of a loved one in everything.
I love you now like I loved you then,
Expressing a continuous love, comparing the past and present affection.
I'm getting a little too old to try and pretend
Acknowledging age and the futility of pretending.
That there'll be another to compare with you,
Expressing the uniqueness of the loved one.
I see you in everything
The recurring theme of perceiving the loved one in everything.
So I packed my bags, I hit the road,
Leaving and owning land, possibly seeking solitude.
I own a stretch of land, I've got a fishing hole
Ownership of a fishing hole and a decision to clear the mind.
I'm gonna sit right here until I clear my head,
Commitment to staying until clarity is achieved.
Cause I see you in everything
Reiterating the constant presence of the loved one in everything.
But there are no answers, it's just the road you're on,
Emphasizing the uncertainty of life's journey.
If you don't open up your eyes, soon it'll all be gone,
Warning about potential loss if one doesn't open their eyes.
Breeze through the forest just like the breath in my lungs,
Comparing the breeze to the breath in the speaker's lungs.
I see you in everything.
Reaffirming the perception of the loved one in everything.
