We sit secure in time-honored traditions made
We adhere to longstanding customs and practices.
Never wondering where or when the sickle may come

We may not strive to enhance our knowledge to become better individuals.

In the face of adversity (rain), we might succumb before even experiencing difficulties.
We build our ivory towers to protect us from the flood
We construct protective structures (ivory towers) to shield us from disasters.
A fleet of vessels made of wood so they won't rust
We create wooden vessels to withstand decay.
But can we see the bottom of the bottle when we start to drink?
Despite our defenses, do we recognize the consequences when we indulge in excess (bottom of the bottle)?
