This has been my family home now, for more than sixty years

My family have long since gone, i am the last of my name

Being the last surviving member of the family lineage

Everything that i once loved, has been lost to the flames

Loss of everything beloved due to previous destruction

But no man could make me leave this place, i dare god to try

Determination not to leave the cherished place

Willingness to stand firm and face challenges, even risking life


The fire has burned out, doused by the rain

Transition from fire to rain, change in circumstances

I am soaked to the bone, but i feel no pain

Being completely soaked but emotionally numb

So leave the water come down, let it do it's worst

Acceptance and defiance towards the incoming water's destruction

I was born of this land, i will return to it's dirt

Profound connection to the land, ready to return to it
