Tree of Freedom
Roots of Resilience: A Soul's Journey to FreedomLyrics
Kept away from daylight
Isolated from exposure to daylight.
Deprived from all the songs I loved
Deprived of the enjoyment of the songs that were loved.
These walls may hold my body captive,
Physical confinement within walls.
But my soul is attending every sunset
Spiritually connected to the beauty of every sunset despite the physical captivity.
This is the hardest there was to walk,
Refers to a challenging and difficult path walked in life.
But nothing I regret
No regrets despite facing hardships.
Our death would only be the thing they're praing for,
Death is the desire of those against the speaker, but the speaker refuses to succumb.
Time won't force us to surrender,
Time will not compel them to give up or surrender.
Their crippled freedom is not the one we're longing for,
Rejecting a compromised or limited form of freedom pursued by others.
As all else failed we raised our fists and weapons,
In the face of failure, resorting to defiance using fists and weapons.
Not born as soldiers, but driven to the end
Not inherently soldiers but pushed to the limits and forced into a soldier's role.
These wounds will be like memories, enhancing my existence
Wounds experienced will serve as memories, enriching the speaker's life.
And our scars shall be the seals of freedom
Scars symbolize the attainment of freedom.
I know that time heals nothing
Expresses skepticism about the healing power of time.
Never casting dwon my eyes before the tyrant's throne
Defiant posture, never bowing down before oppressive rulers.
I know that our screams will sound out to the world,
Screams of defiance will be heard globally.
Our blood will be like water for the tree of freedom
Blood shed in the struggle will nourish the metaphorical "tree of freedom."
These wounds will be like memories, enhancing my existence
Similar to line 14, wounds serve as enriching memories.
These wounds will be like memories, cannot banish this idea
Wounds are indelible memories that cannot be erased.
This idea will overcome all walls and fences
The idea born from wounds will overcome obstacles.
A young man's deeds became an old man's wisdom
Actions in youth become wisdom in old age.
