Lyrics
What is your torture of choice?
Asking about preferred method of suffering or pain
I favour suffocation
Expressing a preference for suffocation as a form of torture
Then the glimpse of a saviour
Seeing a fleeting image of a rescuer
To fend off the horror
Using the glimpse of hope to push away the horror
But I made it up of course
Admitting that the previous statement was fabricated
It comes like redemption
Redemption arrives, offering relief
And in the eyes of my subject
Observing relief in the eyes of the subject
So much relief I could laugh
Feeling so much relief that laughing seems possible
Ha!
Expression of laughter
And off she goes
A repetition of the subject departing and returning to a dark place (the pit) despite thinking it was healing
And off she goes
-And off she goes
-And off she goes
-And off she goes
-Back in the pit
-(She thought was healing)
-And off she goes, and off she goes
-And off she goes
-And off she goes, and off she goes
-Back in the pit
-Shh!
Exhorting silence
She clings on, and acts as if
She holds on, pretending not to notice the observer
She's not seeing me behind it
Ignorant of the observer's presence
Not seeing me behind it
Reiteration of not recognizing the observer
(She thought was healing)
Returning to the belief that the situation was healing
I can't take all the credit
Not taking full credit for the situation, implying the subject's involvement in their own suffering
She does most of the job herself
Stating that the subject contributes significantly to their own situation
(She thought was healing)
Repeating the belief that the situation was healing
And when she tires, eventually
When the subject becomes exhausted, the observer intervenes
I just have to pluck her, a ripe hanging fruit
Metaphorically describing the subject as ripe fruit ready to be picked when they reach a breaking point
That bursts at the seam-line she thought was healing
The breaking point where the subject's healing facade shatters
And off she goes
Repeated cycles of the subject leaving and returning to the pit despite thinking they were healing, showing a cycle of hope and despair
Back in the pit
-And off she goes
-And off she goes
-And off she goes
-(She thought was healing)
-And off she goes
-And off she goes
-Back in the pit
-(Back in the pit)
-(She thought was healing)
-And off she goes
-And off she goes
-And off she goes
-(She thought was healing)
-And off she goes
-And off she goes
-Back in the
-Hmm!
-Back in the pit
-Back in the pit
-Back in the pit
Reiteration of the subject's return to the pit
