Feeling significant and important in their own way.
Got some discount knowledge at the Jr. College where we majored in beer and girls
Attending a Junior College where the focus was more on social aspects like parties, relationships, and having a good time.
It was all real funny till we ran out of money and they threw us out into the world
Life became challenging when they faced financial struggles and had to face the realities of the world outside college.
Yeah, the kids that thought they'd run this town ain't a-runnin' much of anything
Realizing that their aspirations of running the town have not materialized, instead, they focus on love, laughter, and hard work as their version of success.
Just lovin' and laughin' and bustin' our asses, and we all call it all livin' the dream
Embracing the lifestyle they lead, considering it as living the dream despite the hardships.
But these are my people, this is where I come from
Expressing pride and belongingness to the community and experiences that shaped them.
We're givin' this life everything we got and then some
Dedicating themselves fully to life, giving it their all and even more.
It ain't always pretty, but it's real
Acknowledging that life isn't always glamorous, but it's genuine and authentic.
It's the way we were made, wouldn't have it any other way

Well, we take it all week on the chin with a grin till we make it to Friday night
Enduring challenges throughout the week, eagerly anticipating Friday nights.
And it's church league softball, holler 'bout a bad call, preacher breaking up the fight
Playing softball in a church league, sometimes leading to conflicts resolved by the preacher.
Then later on at the Green Light tavern, well, everybody's gatherin' as friends
Gathering at a local tavern, fostering camaraderie and friendship among everyone.
And the beer's a pourin' till Monday mornin', and we start it all over again
Drinking and socializing until the start of the workweek.
And these are my people, this is where I come from
Reiterating the bond and connection with the community.

Continuing to invest everything they have and more into their lives and relationships.
