SHE'S LEAVING
Lost Dreams: Jack Wesley's Tale of Departure and RedemptionLyrics
She was just 18 when she left
She departed when she was 18 years old.
Had a dream of a life that she'd seen on a small bright screen
She aspired to a life depicted on a small screen, leaving her family behind.
Left her family at home
She left her family's home.
Didn't need them anymore she said
She believed she didn't require her family anymore.
Took a little while just to get things going
It took some time for her to get settled.
But the days were long and the nights grew dark and lonely
Her days became long and nights became lonely.
Said she felt so lonely
She expressed her loneliness.
So she went to see the man on the moon
She sought out an idealized figure, the "man on the moon."
Said he'd give her the world on a silver spoon
Believed the man would provide her with everything she desired.
And for some time they both believed it
Initially, they both believed in this promise.
But things don't always go as planned
However, things didn't proceed as planned.
When shit went sideways she up and ran to another place
When situations became difficult, she abruptly left for another place to start anew.
To try it again
She attempted to restart her life again.
Says of lately, "Please don't save me"
Recently, she insists on not being rescued, preferring to remain as she is.
"Leave me how I am"
She requests not to be saved and left as she is.
No one sees
Her actions go unnoticed by others.
She's up and leaving
She's departing once more.
Here we go again
Her cycle of leaving seems to repeat.
"It has to work this time around"
She convinces herself that it must work this time.
She said to herself as she walked through town
She encounters new people while affirming her determination.
Smiling at the brand new faces that passed her by
She smiles at new faces in town.
But when the money dried up, she sold her soul
When she faced financial struggles, she sacrificed her integrity for material gain.
To the man with the gold-covered life
She traded her principles for a luxurious lifestyle.
She knows second chance love only counts for the best of us
She acknowledges that second chances in love are rare and usually for the best individuals.
Fucked up again, she's got no friends, or real ones anyway
Her repeated mistakes leave her without genuine friends.
To come through when it seems more days on the road are creeping up
More days on the road lead to a sense of impending loneliness.
Would there ever be peace
She wonders if she'll ever find peace.
Within her mind as she walked all alone again
Alone again, she walks, searching for peace of mind.
And would it be the same if she was cared for back then?
She ponders whether things would have been different if she had been cared for earlier.
Says of lately, "Please don't save me"
Recently, she repeats her plea not to be rescued.
"Leave me how I am"
She reiterates her desire not to be saved and left as she is.
No one sees
Her departure goes unnoticed by others.
She's up and leaving
She's leaving once more.
Here we go again
Her departure cycle repeats again.
