Being called as the person walks over.
You introduce me to your friend
Introduction to the person's friend with a hint of anticipation.
There's a look on their face
Noticing a particular expression on the friend's face.
That I know I'll one day be feeling too
Anticipating a future moment of similar feelings.
And you're stood there a vision in pink
Describing the person as a captivating figure in pink.
As I falter and struggle to think
Feeling unsure and struggling to find words in the person's presence.
What to say but you keep the conversation afloat
Noticing the person maintaining the conversation effortlessly.
Then I chime in with something stupid like I like your coat
Awkwardly contributing to the conversation with a comment about the person's coat.
And then later we drive up the hill and we lie
Later driving up a hill and sharing a moment of vulnerability.
On the roof and I play you songs that I'm scared to play
Playing songs that evoke fear or hesitation.
And we wander down through the heath and we stand
Wandering through the heath and pausing to overlook the city.
And look out on the city you left the night I arrived
Reflecting on the city and its connection to the person's departure.
And we kiss there and up round my body you climb
Sharing an intimate moment with a kiss and physical closeness.
Til' we're found by a stranger who greets us as they pass us by
Being unexpectedly interrupted by a passing stranger.
