Consider all the places that you've been
Encouraging contemplation of the various places one has been in life.
The measure of a life is not in our momentary failures
Defining life's value beyond temporary failures, emphasizing the importance of restarting.
Only failure to begin again
Highlighting that true failure lies in not beginning again after setbacks.
As a child I was told a day would come
Recalling childhood advice about a future day when the speaker reflects on their youth.
When I'd speak of my younger years
Anticipating the time when the speaker will talk about their younger years.
And wonder where the time had gone
Expressing wonder about the passage of time and the fleeting nature of youth.
With a flash of lightning in the summer sky
