There Is a Treasure
Life's Unseen Tapestry: Jeffrey Martin's Poetic ReflectionsLyrics
The city will still be moving in the morning
The city will continue its daily activities in the morning.
A million lives all breathing like a tide
A large number of lives coexist, breathing together like a tide.
Each one a story beyond our comprehending
Each individual has a unique story that surpasses our understanding.
Each trying to make a life and feel alive
People strive to create a meaningful life and experience a sense of being alive.
The trees will bloom down along the river
Trees will blossom along the river.
The kids will race the fountains in the light
Children will play and compete around fountains in the daylight.
Someone will cry and pray that it gets better
Someone will express emotions, possibly sadness, and pray for improvement.
Someone will stop and try to change a life
Someone will take a pause and attempt to positively impact another person's life.
The sun will rise like it always does
The sun will rise as it always does, even on the day of the speaker's death.
On the day that I die
The world will continue, indifferent to the speaker's existence.
The world will spin, the sun will go on burning
The planet will keep spinning, and the sun will persistently burn.
Never even knowing I was alive
The world remains oblivious to the fact that the speaker was once alive.
There's a treasure we all know but we can't have it
There exists a metaphorical treasure that everyone is aware of but cannot attain.
It's a place beyond the measure of our minds
This treasure exists in a realm beyond our comprehension.
It is where we go when we forget we're living
It is a place we reach when we forget that we are alive.
It is where we go when we forget we die
Similarly, it is where we go when we forget about death.
And all the tools we use to feel important
All the tools we use to feel important are futile in reaching this intangible place.
They are useless as a sailboat in the sky
These tools are as useless as a sailboat in the sky.
Where old bones and heartaches are forgotten
In this place, old struggles and emotional pains are left behind and forgotten.
It's a place we don't have words to describe
This place is so profound that we lack adequate words to describe it.
The sun will rise like it always does
Similar to line 11, emphasizing the continuity of natural processes despite the speaker's death.
On the day that I die
Reiteration of the idea that life goes on, irrespective of the speaker's existence.
The world will spin, the sun will go on burning
The world remains unaware of the speaker's past existence even as it continues to function.
Never even knowing I was alive
Reiteration of the notion that the world is indifferent to the speaker's life.
