I have a room filled with succulent plants.
I even had a lover once
I once had a romantic partner.
I let him in but he couldn't stay
I allowed him into my life, but the relationship didn't last.
Called me by my baby name
He addressed me by a special name associated with our intimacy.
I'm waiting
I am currently in a state of anticipation.
Waiting for something to love
I am waiting for something or someone to love.
I got a job at the coffee shop
I secured employment at a coffee shop.
Double shifts and double shots
I work long hours, including shifts with intense coffee preparation.
Mom's clean and we're talking again
My relationship with my mother has improved, and she is now clean.
Now is now and then was then
I acknowledge the distinction between the past ("then was then") and the present ("now is now").
And sometimes in the middle of the night
Occasionally, during the night, I reminisce about my mother, illuminated by the light of the television.
I can still see mom sleeping in the TV light
I recall turning off the TV, and my mother calling my name.
I'd turn it off and she'd say my name
Her voice still echoes in my memory.
I can still hear it that way
I can vividly remember the way she said my name.
