Well i keep on waking up
Waking up reflects the continuity of life.
And i keep on going to bed
Going to bed signifies the routine of daily existence.
And the stuff in between well it dont seem to matter cuz what would i do instead?
The in-between activities are seemingly insignificant, questioning the purpose of alternative choices.
Well i could spend it feeling sorry
Contemplating spending time in self-pity.
Or i could spend it drinkin wine
Considering the option of indulging in wine as a way to cope.
But these days i seem to think of you just to go ahead and pass the time
Thinking about someone (possibly a past relationship) as a distraction from the passage of time.
Well i did my forty nights
Referring to a period of time spent, suggesting a significant duration.
Thirty nine and some odd days
Specifically, completing forty nights but emphasizing the odd days, hinting at an incomplete or imperfect effort.
But does it count as expiation if i chose to waste away?
Raising the question of whether the effort is meaningful if choosing to waste away instead of genuine redemption.
Its not enough to just feel sorry

But here i am
Presenting the current situation of idling, possibly stuck or in a state of inertia.
