Lyrics
Come all of you cowboys all over this land
Cowboys from all parts of this land, gather here.
I'll sing you the law of the Ranger's command.
I will explain the principles of the Ranger's command.
To hold a six-shooter and never to run
To wield a six-shooter (revolver) and stand your ground without fleeing.
As long as there's bullets in both of your guns.
Stay firm and resilient, ready to shoot as long as there's ammunition in both guns.
I met a fair maiden whose name I don't know
I encountered a beautiful woman whose name I don't know.
I asked her to the round-up with me would she go.
I invited her to join me in the roundup (cattle gathering).
She said she'd go with me to the cold round-up
She agreed to accompany me to the chilly cattle roundup.
And drink that hard liquor from a cold bitter cup.
She expressed willingness to consume strong alcohol in harsh conditions.
We started for the round-up in the fall of the year
We commenced our journey towards the roundup in autumn.
Expecting to get there with a herd of fat steer.
Hoping to arrive there with a herd of well-fed cattle.
When the rustlers broke on us in the dead hour of night
When cattle thieves attacked us during the late hours of the night.
She rose from her warm bed a battle to fight.
She got out of her warm bed ready to engage in battle.
She rose from her warm bed with a gun in each hand
Armed herself with a gun in each hand.
Saying, "Come all you cowboys, and fight for your land."
Encouraging all cowboys to join in defending their land.
Come all of you cowboys, and don't ever run
Inviting all cowboys to stand their ground without fleeing.
As long as there's bullets in both of your guns.
To remain steadfast as long as there's ammunition for defense.
