Then He can help me to be humble, and love my enemies
Expressing a desire for humility and the ability to love even those considered enemies.
Cause He's the lover of the loveless ones and caused the blind to see
Recognizing Jesus as the advocate for the unloved and the one who brings insight to the blind.
If He can do that for some fishermen, I know He can for me

I've tried to make myself into something good
Admitting personal efforts to become a better person.
I've tried so hard but I just can't do the things I know I should
Expressing frustration at the difficulty of fulfilling moral obligations.
If there's one thing that I know, it's that I can't do this on my own
Affirming the need for divine assistance, rejecting self-sufficiency.
Because I've tried and failed to break this heart of stone
Reflecting on personal failures to overcome emotional barriers.
And Jesus took my sin, so if I'd only come to Him
Acknowledging the role of Jesus in forgiving sins and bringing inner peace.
He'll cleanse my heart and put peace inside my soul
