Some days are heavy, some days are gold
Acknowledging the varying nature of days, some burdensome and others valuable.
In a chapter I've been reading
Referring to a specific portion of life or experience.
From an old and weathered book
Describing the source as an old and worn-out book, suggesting the wisdom gained through time.
Hear the distant voices calling
Noting the distant calls from the past, perhaps memories or lessons.
But it's hard to take a look
Expressing difficulty in reflecting on the past, possibly due to emotional challenges.
When there's so much that I care for
Highlighting a conflict between personal concerns and the external world.
But it wasn't built by me
Acknowledging that what matters was not solely created by the individual.
Hold the door, and set us free
Suggesting a desire for liberation or a new beginning.
And is there a pattern, that we all repeat
Raising questions about repetitive behaviors and experiences in life.
The places we go, the people we meet
Reflecting on the places visited and people encountered as part of life's journey.
It's sometimes familiar, it's sometimes so strange
Describing life as a mix of familiarity and strangeness.
I feel it more now, I see the change
Expressing an increased awareness of change and transformation.
In a chapter I've been reading
Reiterating the reference to a specific phase or aspect of life.
From an old and weathered book
Reemphasizing the source of wisdom from an aged book.
Hear the distant voices calling
Acknowledging the distant echoes from the past.
But it's hard to take a look
Expressing the challenge of revisiting and understanding the past.
When there's so much that I care for
Highlighting the struggle between personal attachments and the recognition that they were not self-created.
But it wasn't built by me
Reiterating the desire for freedom or a new beginning.
Hold the door, and set us free
Encouraging the act of holding the door as a symbolic gesture to set oneself and others free.
