Count The Stars
Navigating Life's Constellations: Counting Stars and Letting GoLyrics
First I met a man
Encountered a man
He tried to count the stars
Attempted to count the stars
He figured they were his
Assumed the stars belonged to him
And he made it his whole business
Made it his sole focus and occupation
Couldn't look away
Unable to divert attention, fearing a loss in counting
For fear of losing count
Continuous gaze to avoid missing any stars
And so he never learned
Failed to realize they were dispensable
They were something he could do without
Didn't recognize their insignificance
For all of the trying and fighting you can't make it so
Efforts and struggles can't always alter reality
There is no use in crying, there's some things we may never know
Counseling against futile sorrow for the unknown
The next man that I met
Encountered another man
Had a different kind of fear
Had a fear tied to focusing on maps
By focusing on maps
Got stuck due to fixation on directions
He got stuck sitting there
Immobility from overthinking
And I'm not sure if he
Uncertain if he ever ventured beyond
Had ever left his chair
Speculation about his lack of movement
But he knew plenty of stories
Knowledge derived from others who took risks
Of other who had dared
Stories of daring individuals
For all of the trying and fighting you can't make it so
Emphasizing inability to force certain outcomes
There is no use in crying, there's some things we may never know
Acceptance of the unknown, discouraging tears
To get what you're after, there's some things you'll have to let go
Release of certain desires for ultimate goals
As for me, I will wait in the meantime for changes to show
Personal decision to wait for changes patiently
Then I met a king
Encountered a king
As kind as kind could be
King characterized by kindness
But he reveled in his power
King celebrated his authority
And reigned over the sea
Ruled dominantly over the sea
It was my burden to bear
Assigned the responsibility to deliver news
To deliver him the news
Informing the king of his ocean's loyalty to the moon
That his obedient ocean
The obedient nature of the ocean
Was faithful to the moon
Faithfulness of the ocean to the celestial body
For all of the trying and fighting you can't make it so
Reiteration of the futility of excessive effort
There is no use in crying, there's some things we may never know
Reinforcement of accepting the unknown without tears
To get what you're after, there's some things you'll have to let go
Reiteration of sacrificing certain desires for goals
As for me, I will wait in the meantime for changes to show
Personal commitment to wait for changes patiently
As for me, I will wait in the meantime for changes to show
Personal commitment to wait for changes patiently (repeated)
