How Deep the Father's Love for Us
Embracing Redemption: A Reflection on the Depths of Divine LoveLyrics
How deep the Father's love for us
The depth of love the Father has for humanity
How vast beyond all measure
Unmeasurable and immeasurable in its vastness
That He should give His only Son
God giving His only Son for humanity's redemption
To make a wretch His treasure
To transform someone unworthy into something precious to Him
How great the pain of searing loss
The immense agony experienced by Jesus
The Father turns His face away
God turning away from Jesus during His suffering
As wounds which mar the Chosen One
The wounds suffered by Jesus, who was chosen for this purpose
Bring many sons to glory
Through Christ's suffering, many individuals find glory or salvation
Behold the man upon a cross
Jesus depicted on the cross
My sin upon His shoulders
Jesus bearing the weight of human sins
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice
The shame felt upon realizing one's contribution to Jesus' suffering
Call out among the scoffers
Calling out among those who ridicule and scorn
It was my sin that held Him there
One's own sins keeping Jesus on the cross until redemption is achieved
Until it was accomplished
Jesus' mission being completed with His sacrifice
His dying breath has brought me life
Jesus' death resulting in spiritual life for believers
I know that it is finished
Recognition that the work of redemption is accomplished
I will not boast in anything
Choosing not to boast in personal achievements or abilities
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
No pride in material possessions, authority, or knowledge
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
Preferring to boast only in the significance of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection
His death and resurrection
Emphasizing the importance of Jesus' sacrifice and triumph over death
Why should I gain from His reward?
Questioning the worthiness to benefit from Jesus' sacrifice
I cannot give an answer
Admitting the inability to fully comprehend or justify receiving such a reward
But this I know with all my heart
Confidently affirming, with heartfelt certainty, that Jesus' wounds secured liberation
His wounds have paid my ransom
Understanding that Jesus' wounds have paid the price for one's freedom
His wounds have paid my ransom
Reaffirming the ransom paid through Jesus' wounds for personal redemption
